Recently, she was offered a film, but couldn't take it up due to date issues. Deepika is the elder daughter of Prakash Padukone, who was a former top world level badminton player and Ujjala Padukone, who is a travel agent. She has a younger sister Anisha, who is a golfer and ranks ninth in the country in the sport. Deepika is the grand-daughter of Ramesh Padukone, who was the Secretary of the Mysore Badminton Association for many years. She played her first official tournaments in the year 1962 and has won the Karnataka state junior championship title.

In Tamasha Movie
Tamasha is an upcoming Indian romantic drama film directed by Imtiaz Ali and produced by Ali and Sajid Nadiadwala. It stars Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone in lead roles. Tamasha will see Ranbir playing an easy-going guy, Ved Sahni, while Deepika will portray the role of a book fanatic, Tara Maheshwari. The film is scheduled to release on 25 December 2015.
In Baji Rao Mastani movie
Deepika Padukone will be playing the other titular role of Mastani in upcoming movie Bajirao Mastani. Mastani was the daughter of a Hindu Maharaja Chhatrasal of Bundelkhand province and his Persian-Muslim wife Ruhaani Bai who was a court dancer of the Nizam of Hyderabad. For the sword wielding sequence, the dimpled actress is, reportedly, expected to wear a 20 kg armour. The actress is also said to have been taking lessons in sword fighting and martial arts.
In Piku
Deepika Padukone was recently seen in the film "Piku" alongwith megastar Amitabh Bachchan and Irrfan Khan. About her character's style in the film, Deepika said, "I think Piku tries to keep her look stylish and functional at the same time. She believes in looking presentable, stylish and at the same time be comfortable at work. The style in the film is also like that, Piku works during the day, runs the house and also takes care of her father. " The film released on May 8, 2015.

Career
Deepika Padukone pursued a career in modeling. She started modelling assignment with Lakme fashion week in 2005. Later, she signed many modelling assignments and was awarded as Model of the year in Kingfisher fashion awards. She was a Brand ambassador of Levi Strauss and Tissot SA. She made her cinematic debut in the Kannada Film Aishwarya in 2006 starring opposite actor Upendra.
She made her bollywood entry with Shahrukh Khan's Om shanti Om which was a blockbuster hit and made her to won FilmFare Best Female Debut Award. Her latest blockbuster hit was "Chennai Express" opposite King Khan and romantic flick "Ramleela" opposite Ranveer singh. She has received many prestigious modelling offers including brand ambassadorship of the Jewels of India and an annual jewellery exhibition. Then she was appeared in movies like Finding Fanny, Happy New Year and Piku.
In Hindi remake of The Fault In Our Stars
Director Homi Adajania, producer Dinesh Vijan and Fox Star Studios are all set for the Hindi adaptation of the Hollywood film The Fault In Our Stars. The film might star Deepika Padukone and Varun Dhawan in the lead roles. This will be the third film that will bring Homi and Deepika together after the successful Cocktail and Finding Fanny. A hat-trick in the offing for the maker and his favourite heroine. The film will also bring Varun and Deepika together for the first time.
